  • Demons souls doesnt explain any fucking thing. Theres a lot that would take incredible effort to figure out on your own, I think they intended for it to take a community to get things figured out together.

Its been a really long time but I remember theres a ring in the first area that lets you have a lot more health while unkindled or whatever they call it in that one. Its sort of secret, I think just before the first boss in that area you drop down a hole into a room. For me at the time this was a major boon.

I also found it way easier to start as a spellcaster. Many traps and fights are easier from a distance or by using magic to bait enemies out so you can fight one on one and avoid group ambushes. There really is so much trial and error in this one, you are going to get blasted and have to memorize it all.

There are a lot of NPC phantoms that only appear with certain world tendencies, usually full white or full black. Its really a major bitch to get everything because of the effort to manipulate it. I made it through most of the game without even realizing what was happening. I do remember in the last area farming flying manta ray things and using black world tendency to get more souls so theres that if you get desperate. Good luck!

  • Its pretty cool, it definitely is not trying to hide the inspiration from souls and sekiro. I’m at the alchemist island and switching weapons just to try different move sets. Like most soulslike games if you get good at parrying and dodging it seems like any weapon can carry you to the end. I do like how the move sets are tied to weapon handles that can be attached to the actual blades you upgrade, its a neat idea to let you get a different damage type or weight on a moveset you like. I think my only complaint is that it is fairly linear, there are shortcuts to open up but there’s never any doubt about which way to go. When I got stuck for a moment on the swamp boss I didnt feel like I needed to go explore and find things to help, I just had to rail on him until I got it or go grind for level ups.

  • Great game, played the hell out of it, but to me its the easy mode dark souls people always asked for, especially with regards to multiplayer. Invasions are almost always 1 v 3 people, and the reward is minimal when you can craft the item you need to summon people endlessly. There’s no covenants, so theres no decent rewards for multiplayer participation. I almost never felt threatened getting invaded, I always easily had two allies and could just run away in the massive areas.

I played way more single player in this than most other souls games as a result, and felt like I overleveled for most of it just because of exploring. Exploring was fun, but wow, being thorough just led to me being rich even when spending on weapons and armor I didnt really need. Even respeccing allowed for way more uses than I ever actually needed. All the other souls games felt way tighter on resources and required a little more consideration when using them, or leveling up, or even summoning help. Can I handle an invasion? Am I running out of uses - will I be able to summon for a boss? Shit I might need to invade people if I cant (or go help others with a boss Im better at). Elden ring just never felt that way, I just helped occasionally because it was easy to top off for a level up. Invading was just tiresome.

  • $450. Its a pixel 8. Admittedly I have also considered a case just to streamline the shape, I really really hate how the camera bumps out the back. It really was designed with the expectation people would use a case.

I have been scolded by my SO for going caseless, but I also hate how rubber ones turn my pocket inside out as I retrieve my phone sometimes, and I dont drop it. If I was prone to being more clumsy I might concede

  • I dont even use a case. The very idea that phones are sold in a state of fragility that I am required to add another layer to it is bullshit. There are some very minor scratches as a result but nothing noteworthy. The real reason I go caseless is this shit is too bulky already, phones keep getting bigger and I want them smaller.
