That’s better than requiring a subscription fee but I’m so tired of pretending like this shit is okay. Run ads, fine, I get it, but let me see your damn articles. WSJ is the worst with their whole “democracy dies in darkness” slogan.
Any pronouns. 33.

I was briefly a minimum wage worker at a grocery store and that was my experience. I was a college student just making extra spending money and trying to be responsible. I didn’t need the job at all. I put in time off for my vacation and my manager was weird saying I couldn’t do that. And I didn’t really say it directly but it’s like, the vacation is already planned. I’m going. The system approved it, too. You can’t make me not go. If you’re going to reprimand me, you can. If you’re going to fire me, you can, but I’m going.
I can’t imagine how fucking awful that environment would be like if that’s your primary method of supporting your family.
Usually with tips it’s like $2.13 or something. For wait staff that gets tips they’re allowed to be paid less hourly. Their total pay for the day still has to be at least the federal minimum wage though.
Tips are so weird.
Some moron on Facebook was talking about how Trump raised the minimum wage because major brands like Walmart started paying $15 an hour (or whatever specific amount) at the lowest they offer new hires. I told her that, no, that’s not what “raising the minimum wage” means. She insisted that because of Trump’s brilliant economic prowess it allowed these companies to pay more.
Like, yeah, turns out of the federal minimum wage is so low that basically no one wants to work for it then people need to pay more to get workers. (I’m aware people still work for the actual minimum wage in case that isn’t somehow abundantly clear.)
For fucks sake, why is every article pay walled? Just let me read!
I don’t know, I’m personally not really bothered with that sort of thing. Plots can rhyme and still feel similar even if the bears are different. To be honest I don’t even remember exactly how S1 ended
Edit: Bears? No idea what I meant to say. Oops.
American here, I’m very excited! We have a little group that watches the finals live every year. We don’t really keep up with the process until the finals, but it’s a blast.
I don’t know how you don’t retcon Fallout when there are so many choices and endings in each game.
I’m saying intentional property damage is violence. I did not say defacing Teslas is terrorism. All terrorism involves violence. Not all violence is terrorism.
Yeah, the hype has died a little now, but over the past decade or so there was definitely a surge. Functional paradigms are definitely useful, but like a lot of things you can take it too far. I think one of my favorite criticisms was that the real world is mutable and has state so most programming languages will have to have that everywhere.
You can get a lot of the good from functional programming in non functional languages just by using immutable data types and pure functions.
What if all characters depicted in hieroglyphs just look like that when facing forward?
The longer I look the funnier it gets.
I don’t want to play Uno regardless of how many people are watching lol.
Not doing what aboutism, just trying to explain what their point may have been. I’m a different person than brought it up, so just guessing. Yes, schools have real problems too.
Well that can’t be because I call my nonbinary wife Daddy!
It’s short for Michaelael.
CVE-2025-j - Data leak due to uninitialized variable for children of non-binary parents
Children referring to non-binary parents may use uninitialized variable in speech when referring to the parent. This can expose personal information when referring to the non-binary parent. All children who are users of the English language are potentially vulnerable. Children who already have a preferred title for their parent are unaffected. To mitigate this the parent and child should discuss what preferred title the child should use.
Due to the extreme widespread usage of the English language and the difficulty with patching, there is unlikely to be a comprehensive fix for this soon.
Tangential, but my wife is nonbinary and I still call them my wife. They’re okay with it. And I don’t mean to be lewd, but in bed they like to be called Daddy instead of Mommy. My point is that it’s probably a case by case thing without a universal and some nonbinary folks don’t mind some gendered terms. It might even be context based.
I think Astrobot is an example of what you’re talking about.
Also really good observation about FNAF. I’ve noticed the same. What’s interesting is that the longer the franchise go the more they push Purple Guy/Afton as the main antagonist and even make Freddy into a hero at times. It’s like this big unexpected success and they need to make it more acceptable but sort of painted themselves into a corner over time lol.
She’s not even ignorant. From the back and forth it was clear she knew that the federal minimum wage is still $7.25. It’s like willful double think. I hate it. I’ve since emotionally detached from online “debates” and I feel better.
